BWB launches public consultation on rules of conduct regarding vertical and trilateral price fixing In the course of recent enforcement activities the FCA has observed wide spread practices in vertical and trilateral price fixing by food retailers and their suppliers. Fines amounting to EUR 26 Mio have been imposed for those infringements in three industries: food retail, electronic devices and insulating material. Many proceedings are still pending. For the purpose of competition advocacy and prevention of future infringements the FCA has prepared a short paper clarifying the FCA's legal assessment of the practices involved. The paper was presented to the public on 13th June 2013. All interested parties are invited to comment by 1st August 2013. 17.06.2013
Conference on Prevention and Compliance On 18th and 19th April 2013, the Austrian Federal Competition Authority (FCA) hosted a national and international conference on prevention "Damit Wissen for Strafe schützt - How knowledge can avoid fees" in cooperation with the Austrian Chamber of Commerce and "Prevention and Compliance - International Knowledge Exchange". 26.04.2013
2.9 million euro fine in electronics industry The Cartel Court imposed a fine of 2.9 million euros against Philips because of vertical price-fixing agreements march 26th. This decision is legally valid and corresponds to the application of the Federal Competition Authority. 29.03.2013

BWB publishes evaluation of the fuel price regulation The Austrian Competition Authority evaluated the development of fuel prices concerning the Regulation BGBl. II No. 186/2012. 22.02.2013
Fines for vertical price fixing (resale price maintenance) in insulation sector The Austrian Cartel Court imposed on three retailers (constructions markets) a total fine of € 435.000 for participating in vertical price agreements (Resale price maintenance) between producers and retailers of insulating materials. The decision is legally binding. Legal proceedings against one producer are still pending. 15.01.2013
Rail Cargo Austria On 5th December 2012, the Austrian Cartel Court rejected the application for a fine from the Federal Competition Authority (BWB) in the area of market abuse of Rail Cargo Austria AG. 15.01.2013

Bilateral cooperation with Eurasian competition commission From the 4th December until the 8th December a delegation of 8 representatives of Kazakhstan, Belarus and Russia visited the Austrian competition authority.
